Services at the Newton Centre Minyan

Our services are traditional and egalitarian:

The service is in Hebrew, and we have a full k’riah (Torah reading). All members have the opportunity to participate equally in honors like leading services, reading Torah, and being called to the Torah for an aliyah.

Children are always welcome in the main service. We also have three services specifically geared towards children and families:

Junior Minyan
(Meets about twice a month at 10:45)

Our elementary school/middle school service which gives kids the opportunity to pray together, practice their prayer leading skills, and win JP Licks coupons!

Mini Minyan
(Meets about twice a month at 10:45)

A fun parent/child service for our littlest community members. Kids typically attend this service until 1st or 2nd grade, or whenever they feel comfortable in the Junior Minyan.

Gesher Service
(Meets approximately every six weeks at 10:30)

A spirited, more informal service featuring child participation and lots of singing. Kids and adults are encouraged to lead a small portion of the service. Minyan members are available to teach folks, young and old, how to lead parts of the service or read Torah.

High Holidays at Newton Centre Minyan

Our space at Hebrew College is limited, and at peak times we’re close to overflowing. We are only able to accommodate our members for Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur services. We’d love for you to visit the Minyan any other time.
